Hamburger Chop Suey

From my mother's recipe file, a classic quick and easy recipe made with ground beef and canned bean sprouts. My mother served it with canned chow mein noodles.

Ingredients

    1-1/2 pound ground beef
    1 onion, chopped
    1 head celery, chopped
    2 cans mung bean sprouts
    8 tablespoons soy sauce
    3 tablespoons cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Drain bean sprouts, reserving 1/2 can liquid.
  2. In a large skillet, fry ground beef, onion, and celery.
  3. Mix in soy sauce and reserved bean sprout liquid.
  4. Add cornstarch to thicken.
  5. Stir in bean sprouts.
